Greenpoint Gets Green

Great news. Greenpoint is finally getting reparations for the Newton Creek disaster from years ago. According the New York Post, it totals $10 million.

$7 million of that will go to a waterfront improvement project.  The proposed projects include a promenade, boat house, botanical garden in McCarren Park and an educational facility near the creek.

The best part is, you get to vote on which project gets approved! (though, ultimately, it will be the Department of Environmental Conservation‘s decision).

I’ll keep you updated on when the voting begins!
