Walt & I leaving our Easter baskets behind this year and heading up to Vermont for our second anniversary, and a different kind of sugar rush – Sugar on Snow. I’ve wanted to try this peculiar New England delicacy since watching Alton Brown rave about it on an episode of The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Alton gushed about this hot maple syrup dessert , which is drizzled over fresh Vermont snow, and results in a warm, taffy-like candy. It’s served with a sugarless doughnut and a dill pickle to balance out the extreme syrupy sweetness. Wanting to try the real thing, the sugar shack at Bragg Farm is 2 1/2 hour drive from our hotel in Arlington, but, a dessert such as this (served only in March & April) is probably worth the trip.
