Tried & the Truth: pv.body

IMG_6377Now that the holidays have passed, it’s time to start focusing on 2013 and making New Year’s resolutions. Year after year, losing weight and getting in shape top most people’s lists, with little to no change by the end of the year.

Last week, I gave you tips on how to beat the top 5 exercise excuses. One of those excuses – the expense of working out and fitness clothing – can seem like a big setback (especially after holiday shopping!). Brands like Nike, Lululemon and Adidas price some of their fitness clothes well above $100 for one piece – making it difficult for most people to purchase the items they need.

Luckily, I discovered a brand called pv.body (now Ellie) a fashion-forward sportswear subscription service. Every month (though you can skip), you receive a complete workout outfit – both top and bottom – worth over $100 – for only $49.95.

The website is really easy to use. After signing up (if you sign up with Facebook you get a free t-shirt!), you take a short quiz to determine your style, taste and fitness needs. If you don’t like your results, you can always take it again before choosing to order a box.

I received my first box right before Christmas and couldn’t wait to see what they stylists picked out for me. I received royal blue American Apparel Performance Sportswear Fitness Pants and a grey, long sleeve top from Colosseum.

Both items are made of synthetic material, making them moisture-wicking and safe for exercising in most temperatures. I love the bold color of the pants and the high waist makes them very flattering. The top is super soft, comfy and the fair isle print is adorable. It has thumbholes to keep my fingers toasty and it’s long enough to cover your bum – perfect if you have to run an errand or two after working out.

I’ve worn and washed both pieces and the fit and stretch is like new each time. I spotted someone at the gym wearing the same shirt and, I’m sure we both agree that wearing super cute clothing definitely inspires you to workout more often.

If you resolve to be more fit this year, I definitely recommend trying pv.body. With the skip a month option, you’re never obligated to buy and you can cancel at any time. Returns are free and really easy (should an item not fit) and if you click here, you’ll receive 20% off your first box!
