Tucked away at one stand in Adventureland (in both Disneyland and Disney World) hides my favorite Disney treat, The Dole Whip Float. Pineapple soft serve (Dole Whip) on top of fresh pineapple juice, served with an umbrella, a spoon, and a straw. It’s tangy, sweet, cold, and refreshing.
During my trip to Disneyland last month, I had the pleasure of introducing my aunt to the wonders of this chilly (and newly vegan) snack, and she, like the other 100 people in line, was hooked after the first bite.
In the picture above, we’re waiting to enter the Tiki Room (my favorite “ride” as a small child). A good tip, if you like the Tiki Room, or just want to get out of the sun for a few minutes, is to enter the waiting area and then purchase a Dole Whip. The line is almost nonexistent on the ride side so you’ll save a lot of time, and you’ll already be in line for another attraction (2 birds, people).
You can also bring your unfinished delight into Tiki (a rare and amazing exception), and watch the original show, a fact I was unaware of (the WDW version was revamped a few years ago).
Since I don’t get to go to Disney as often as I’d like, I wanted to create an easy homemade version of this elusive snack. So, without further ado, here is my healthy, all-natural, sugar-free, and vegan, two ingredient take on the infamous Dole Whip Float!
Homemade Dole Whip Float
- 1 cup fresh pineapple, chopped
- 1 cup pineapple juice
Freeze pineapple chunks overnight. Using a magic bullet, add the pineapple and a splash of pineapple juice and pulse until blended. Fill a glass with the remaining pineapple juice. Scoop the pineapple “ice cream” into a plastic bag, cut off a corner, and pipe on top of the juice. Garnish with a fresh cherry and a straw.
